Nease traveled to Creekside on Tuesday, playing on back to back evenings against a resident, county opponent.   The Lady Panthers  would conquer the Lady Knights and earn the DUB 57-42.  The game in and of itself offered moments of exhilaration, but such enthusiasm was sometimes dwarfed by laissez-faire action on the court.  Tendencies of this nature, often lends itself to blurred vision.  Although there were no contentious moments on the night, both teams dealt with moments of complacency while striving to maintain quality levels of consistency.  Nease proved to be the better team on paper and in reality.

However, when the call came for ‘Panther Nation’ to stand up, Nease emerged with the concoction of supremacy.  The Lady Panthers led from start to finish, weathering any runs or rallies from the host Lady Knights. Cami Robinson opened up things with consecutive three-pointers to ignite the flames for a dominating first 3 minutes.  Creekside would face a double digit deficit (23-9) at the completion  of the first quarter.  The Lady Knights bounced back to take the second quarter 14-11, but still trailed by eleven points (34-23) when the buzzer signaled intermission.

Nease converted 8 of 10 free throws in the third quarter to double up Creekside (14-7).  The lead would swell to eighteen points entering the final quarter (48-30).  The deficit grew even larger (20 plus points) before the Lady Knights knocked down several big shots to close the game on a 6-0 run. Nease finished the final period 2/7 from the foul line, but the established cushion was more than enough to keep tabs in victory.

The backcourt cadre of Sydney Gomes and Camryn Robinson provided the one-two punch in the win.  Syd finished the night with 22 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Cami produced 17 points, 7 steals, and 4 assists.  Co-captain Allison Fiffied scored 7 points and pulled down 5 boards to lead the front court contingent.  Madison Crawford collected 5 steals and a momentum charge, while Ella Harrison chipped in with 6 points.  As a team, Nease  (7-2) came away with twenty-five steals and fifteen dimes to keep Creekside in check.

On this upcoming weekend, Nease will compete at the KSA Pre-Christmas Classic in Kissimmee. The Lady Panthers will play Washburn (Tenn.) on Friday and Roosevelt (Oregon) on Saturday.  Presently ranked #14 in Florida’s 6A classification, Nease hopes to climb back to a top ten ranking with potential strength of schedule wins. Time to show your true colors Panther Nation.  Green and Gold wrapped in a big bow. It is starting to sound a little like Christmas.  Holler!…..  the bell is ringing.  Coach Bernie Blue
